Calella is a popular tourist destination at the Costa Brava in Spain. Many foreign people visit Calella, but also people from Spain itself. The area of Calella is listed at about 8 km² and counts around 16,000 residents.
Shops
There are a lot of possibilities to go shopping in Calella. Shopping in Calella is, in general, cheaper than in most other holiday destinations within Europe. Which means that visiting Calella is an excellent opportunity for cheap shopping! The opening hours of the shops in Calella are irregular. The shops open at 10 o' clock and close again at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Later in the day the stores open again at 4 o'clock in the afternoon until about 11 o'clock in the evening. It is not a strange thing to bargain while shopping in Calella. In the center of Calella you will find a street of at least 1 killometer long full of shops, with a lot of different stores.
Activities
In and around Calella are a lot of things to do. People can endlessly enjoy watersportactivites such as parasailing, windsurfing, jet skiing, canoeing and all of this for a reasonable price. In the nearby town of Blanes you can go karting, for example. A bit further away in Lloret de Mar is a huge water park/water animal park that is worth visiting. These parks are about a half hour drive away from Calella. Special buses are being used to bring tourists safe and sound to the appropriate destination.
Sights
While in Calella one can go to Playa de Calella, a nice cliff where people can overlook the sea. In Barcelona, about a 75 km drive away, is the Museum Picasso. There you can find paintings by Picasso, including paintings from when he was only 15 years old. Transport is by taxi or train. Once you are in Barcelona you better have a look at the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia. This is a beautiful cathedral in the center of Barcelona.
Climate
Calella knows a Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and soft winters. In the warmest months June, July and August the average temperature will be above 20 degrees Celcius. In the winter months the weather is very precarious with average temperatures between 13 and 15 degrees Celcius.
